Pain has a way of settling into our lives quietly, stubbornly. Whether it’s stiff joints, aching muscles, or old injuries that flare up without warning, we often carry discomfort longer than we should. That’s where Kizhi comes in-a deeply therapeutic Ayurvedic treatment that uses warm herbal bundles to soothe pain, stimulate circulation, and restore mobility.
The word Kizhi means “bundle” in Malayalam. In this treatment, herbs are tied into cloth pouches, heated, and gently pressed over the body in rhythmic strokes. Depending on your condition, we use different types of Kizhi:
Choornam Kizhi is a therapeutic technique used for relieving muscular pain and inflammation, involving the use of dry powdered herbs. Jambeera Kizhi is commonly applied to treat joint stiffness and nerve pain, utilizing a warm bolus made from lemon, turmeric, and rock salt. Patra Pinda Sweda, also known as Elakizhi, is particularly beneficial for conditions like arthritis, back pain, and swelling, and involves the use of freshly picked medicinal leaves.
Each type of Kizhi is chosen based on your body constitution (dosha), symptoms, and specific health goals. At our clinic, we prepare these bundles fresh every day, nothing pre-packed or generic.
Many of our patients describe Kizhi as a turning point-the moment their pain finally started to shift. And we believe it’s not just the herbs, but also the care and intention behind the therapy that makes the real difference.
